OUR VISITATION POLICY
We often have people asking about coming to visit and meet our breeding dogs and puppies. This is what I would want to do if I were buying a new puppy… a new family member. However, there are many things to consider, as a breeder, which many people don’t realize.
We are very busy here at Sierra Springs with taking care of our puppies, visiting guardian dogs, vet appointments, puppies going home and with puppies being born into the world at all hours of the day & night. We have newborn puppies year-round that are very vulnerable to infection and disease, and we do not want to take any chances with our puppies’ health.
Young puppies are very vulnerable to parvo, which may come in on a visitor’s clothing and/or shoes and put them at risk for serious illness and even death. Over-handling of puppies, temperature changes, and moms becoming stressed are also dangers for young puppies and can be very detrimental to our breeding program and the welfare of our dogs. Sierra Springs Australian Doodles is not a facility and all of our puppies are born in our home. Our breeding dogs live with their very own family in a guardian home and are not on the premises except for mommas with their young pups. The mommas come to us about 5 days before their due date and stay until their puppies are weaned. All our momma dogs’ birth & nurse their puppies in our home and we keep our home environment stress free so they feel comfortable and safe.
We have limited your visit to when you pick up your puppy to bring home at 8 weeks old. Please remember we also have lives and family in addition to raising puppies so please be considerate of our time, schedule, and the safety of our dogs.
Thank you for understanding and respecting our policy! We look forward to hearing from you!
